Public Agencies
Riparia serves local and regional public agencies across the Pacific Northwest. Our clients range from cities, towns, and counties to school districts, conservation districts, and regional governments.
We Know the Work, the Process & the Region
We understand the unique challenges of public sector procurement and program delivery, and we bring the breadth of experience, professional reliability, and technical capability that public agencies need from a contractor.
Challenges Public Agencies Face
When it comes to balancing regulatory obligations, community expectations, grant timelines, and the operational realities of managing environmental programs in the field, it’s essential to partner with a contractor who you can trust to perform.
-
Building Program Capacity
Cities and towns that need to expand their noxious weed management or stormwater maintenance programs often lack the resources to do so. They need a contractor who can function as a reliable extension of their team.
-
Supporting Residents & Businesses
When residents and businesses need to find contractors to fulfill maintenance requirements for their privately maintained systems— Riparia steps in to help counties and regional governments make this possible.
-
Contracting Directly with Confidence
School districts, conservation districts, and similar public entities contracting directly for noxious weed control, mitigation and restoration work, or stormwater maintenance need a contractor with the technical expertise and accountability to deliver specialized services on public sites.
Services for Public Agencies

Professionalism
We work with clean equipment, proper safety gear, and conduct that reflects the standard public agencies are expected to uphold.
Reliability
Your systems require regular maintenance to function properly. Heavy rains and sediment loads can degrade and limit system capacity. Riparia keeps things operational and running smoothly.
Timeliness
We show up when scheduled, perform work at the right time of year, and treat your timeline with attention and care.
Safety
Riparia’s safety practices are built for the public environment—protecting everyone on and around the site, every time.
Cleanliness
Our crews pick up trash, clean up debris, and leave work areas in better condition than when they arrived.
Signature Project
Spiketon Ditch Bridge Replacement — Pierce County
Pierce County replaced a pedestrian bridge over Spiketon Ditch, a tributary to South Prairie Creek, leaving disturbed soils and exposed streambanks that required stabilization and native vegetation reestablishment to meet mitigation requirements. Riparia removed all invasive species from the site, installed jute matting, straw wattles, and coir logs to stabilize steep slopes, planted riparian native species, and applied mulch to improve moisture retention and suppress weeds. Following a high flow event that caused additional bank shifting, Riparia completed supplemental stabilization work, including the installation of live fascines, live stakes, and seeding to restore bank integrity.
